Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival to take place July 17 & 18, 2010 in North Wildwood.

The 1st annual Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival is scheduled to take place on July 17 & 18, 2010 at and around the historic 19th century beacon in North Wildwood, New Jersey.

The festival, the first of its kind in the Wildwood’s, will highlight New Jersey’s rich maritime history. Artists and crafters from around the country are booked to exhibit as well as numerous non-profit marine and historical organizations. Events will include tours of the 19th century lighthouse and award winning Victorian gardens, authors and book signings, a children’s’ “fun and educational” area, as well as live music and food.

Among the noted artists attending the Festival are nationally renowned watercolor artist Donna Elias, and award winning photographer Skip Willits.

Authors scheduled to appear include; Anita Hirsh (“Wildwood by the Sea”), David Veasey (“Guarding New Jersey’s Shore”), Steven Winkle (Diving Horse & the Whistle) and Steve Murray (Guardians of the Hereford Inlet).

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center of Brigantine, the New Jersey Lighthouse Society, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the US Life-Saving Heritage Association will join a number of other maritime groups exhibiting.

Popular Wilmington, Delaware Jazz band, Pearl Street will perform Saturday afternoon and other musical guests are expected on Sunday.

The event is being presented by the non profit Friends of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse and co-produced by Resort Graphics, Inc. of Atlantic City.

The Festival will take place at the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse located at 111 North Central Avenue in North Wildwood, NJ from 9 am to 5 pm, light rain or shine.
