overview
Bring your Red-White-Blue kites to Lakefront State Park, Edgewater Beach for Patriot Day, and bring Grandma and Grandpa on Sunday to celebrate Grandparents Day.
Once again, the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites will fill the air and field with color, games, entertainment, and fun for the two-day week-end. For children of all ages there will be kite making workshops and Wind Sprints, a game that teaches you how to get your kite flying and win prizes, too!
New this year is the Storyteller’s Place, where twice each day of the festival club members will tell “Kite Tales”.
Demonstrations of fancy flying, Trick Flying, solo and duet sky ballet by many experienced sport kite folks from several kite clubs will entertain. A Learn To Fly field will be available for folks who want to learn how to fly a kite with two “strings” (we call them lines).
There is no admission or parking fee, so bring your picnic, lawn chairs, and family for an end-of-summer day in the park.
There will be flags available for donations to the USO, which supports our military people everywhere in the world and assists military families at home while their loved ones are away.
