Wolf Moon Hike, Tasting and Dining

Historically, the Native Americans who lived in the eastern United States kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to the recurring full Moons. Those names helped guide the Native Americans through the seasons of the year. As we pass through the winter months, join Shank’s Mare for these programs scheduled around the full moon. Enjoy a guided, brisk winter hike in the late afternoon as you spot the rising moon. Come howl at the Wolf Moon. We’ll explore the Native Lands Trail where the very souls resided that may have named that moon. After our hike, enjoy a wine tasting in The Rookery hosted by our neighbor, Allegro Vineyards. Owners Carl Helrich & Kris Miller currently grow seven varieties of grapes on six acres of vineyards in neighboring Brogue, PA. Good fortune and a favorable mesoclimate contribute to fruit with remarkable character and flavor resulting in some delectable wines. Following your tasting, we have a delicious dinner planned for you in The Rookery.
