Histories and Mysteries Beneath the Cape Fear River
During the 19th century, the Cape Fear River saw daily industrial activity including traffic to turpentine distilleries, naval stores warehouses and shipyards. While there may be few obvious remnants of these activities visible, a closer look reveals abundant physical evidence in the form of old wharves, steam boats, tugboats, ferries and barges.
