The Lumber River: A Classic Black Water Kayaking Experience
The Lumber River, designated as a natural and scenic river, was named one of North Carolina’s 10 Natural Wonders in 2010. Wildlife is abundant on the river, and the observant paddler may spot white and blue heron, wood duck, red tail hawk, owl, deer and perhaps the elusive river otter. Travel back in time as you paddle an eight-mile stretch of this magnificent river from Boardman to the Princess Ann landing at Lumber River State Park. Kayak novices welcome on this excursion.
