One of the greatest living practitioners of German Lieder, Gudrun Bühler will perform songs by Hugo Wolf, Mozart, and selections from Arnold Schoenberg’s 1908 song cycle, The Book of the Hanging Gardens, based on poetry by Stefan George. George was profoundly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and translated the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti into German. Bühler’s recital will conclude with Lullaby by British composer Cyril Scott, based on poetry by Christina Rossetti.
