Dr. Marc N. Levine - Obsidian Reflections: Symbolic Dimensions of Obsidian Use in Ancient Mesoamerica

Thursday, Apr 18, 2013 7:30p

Dr. Levine will present "Obsidian Reflections: Symbolic Dimensions of Obsidian Use in Ancient Mesoamerica." Dr. Levine departs from the traditional study of obsidian production, trade, and use and instead will focus on the ritual and symbolic connotations of obsidian in Mesoamerican thought and religion. Recent case studies exploring the symbolic dimensions of obsidian will be highlighted.

The lecture will be held in Room 211 of Hubbard Hall at Wichita State University.
