Occupy Art: Protest and Empathy for the Worker
Friday, Feb 1 10:00a
to
5:00p
Wichita Art Museum
Wichita,
KS
Examine the significance artists have long held for picturing the 99% or the common man. The recent Occupy movement has focused attention on the dignity & plight of workers, and many artists joined the cause with social statements on posters and placards. Works of art in this exhibition reflect the ongoing empathy artists have had for the everyman and for populism. Drawn from the Wichita Art Museum collection, guest curated by Dr. Rachel Epp Buller, Assistant Professor of Art, Bethel College.
