The Last Mission of "Hog Wild"
Morrison-Talbott Library will host Dr. Terry Rainey to present his Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholars program, The Last Mission of “Hog Wild”.
On 29 August 1945, the B-29 "Hog Wild" was on a humanitarian mission to drop supplies to captives in the Konan PoW camp outside of Hamhung in Korea. Russian fighters brought the superfortress down. This military event changed the status of Russia and the United States from victorious wartime allies to Cold War adversaries.
