Washington Bach Consort presents Revolution & Evolution: The Music of C.P.E. Bach
This year we celebrate the birth of Bach’s most famous son, C.P.E. Bach (1714–1788), whose career dazzled the courts of Europe. Deeply idiosyncratic, his daring “sensitive style” of music bridged the baroque and classical period. His renown as a keyboard player and composer led Mozart to remark “He is the father, we are the children,” and he was also greatly admired by Haydn and Beethoven, and even Brahms, long after his music was out of fashion.
