Washington Bach Consort presents The St. John Passion, BWV 245

Sunday, Mar 16 3:00p

Johann Sebastian Bach: The St. John Passion, BWV 245

Although we know that Bach wrote five works based on the four gospels depicting the last days of Christ, only two remain. Unjustly overshadowed by the monumental St. Matthew Passion, the St. John Passion is a fervent expression of Bach’s faith and genius, bringing new life to a familiar text with intimacy, immediacy, and daring dramatic effects.

FREE Pre-Concert Lecture at 2:00pm with Michael Marissen.
