A pianist who deserves full attention. -The Village Voice Benoit Delbecq, the most innovative French pianist of this generation, creates his own music using ideas and techniques from contemporary, classical, jazz, Pygmy polyphony, European improve, and other sources. For his concerts, he prepares the piano with various materials such as eraser bits and carved wooden twigs; the result is a complex, spacious sound that hardly seems to be emanating from a singer instrument. On this evening, Delbecq plays a range of music-be sure not to miss this celebrated international phenomenon. Co-sponsored with the Alliance Francaise de Washington
