Using pencils, ink, charcoal, and oil pastels, students will be introduced to botanical art by drawing the Yoshino cherry trees and their blossoms around the Tidal Basin. All materials are provided and parents are welcome to observe. Meet at the statue of Jefferson in the rotunda at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, East Potomac Park. The 2008 Festival will be held March 29-April 13. The National Cherry Blossom Festival® celebrates the 96th anniversary of the gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the citizens of the United States and Japan.
