Michael McDonald

Thursday, Dec 17 7:30p
Price: $36.00 - $68.00
Age Suitability: None Specified

With his husky, soulful baritone, Michael McDonald has become one of the most distinctive and popular vocalists to emerge from the laid-back California pop/rock scene of the late '70s. See him perform live at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts on December 17th at 7:30pm.

McDonald has found the middle ground between blue-eyed soul and smooth soft rock, a sound that made him a star. He initially essayed his signature style with the Doobie Brothers, ushering in the group's most popular period with hits like "What a Fool Believes" and "Taking It to the Streets." McDonald disbanded the group in 1982 to pursue a solo career, which was initially quite successful, but by the end of the decade his popularity had faded away, since he was reluctant to work regularly and hesitant to update his sound to suit shifting popular tastes.

Different story

It's been a while since I was able to see him live but I found the experiece quite different from yours. I too thought it was too short but that's just because I wanted to see more. Hoping he will tour the us in support of his new cd (3/4/8 - Soul Speak) but so far dates have him out of the country a lot.

what a rip-off....came on @ 7:20, concert was over @ 8:40..an hour and 20 minutes??? great band, but c'mon....music was mostly motown covers with 4 or 5 doobie songs...takin it to the streets rocked, but then it was over just when everyone felt the band was really warming up....the whole crowd felt gypped...
