The Wharf -- Concerts (Rick Springfield)

Wow, the Wharf is a beautiful place. What a wonderful idea. So glad to have concerts coming back to our area and such a beautiful arena to watch them in. My husband and I went to the Rick Springfield concert and enjoyed an awesome concert from the high-energy wonderful performer. It was fabulous. As much as we enjoyed the concert, we were thoroughly disappointed by the security of the concert. We splurged to purchase tickets right up front. We were in Section 101, Seats C3 and C4. We were delighted to find that they were on the second row on the side part of the stage. How awesome this would be. Well, as soon as the concert started, people started going to the front by the stage, which is okay for people who want to dance and take a quick picture, but some of the ruder folks were pushing me and my husband out of our seat area so they could take it over. I could not believe how rude. And, the crazy thing is, is these people had seats a few rows behind us, which were fabulous seats as well, so why? Anyways, one of the security guards was a very heavy set guy and he spent his time flirting with girls who were trying to gain something from him. He was letting the pushing and rudeness happen. The redeeming person for the security was this fella who was a little shorter than others and very fit and professional. He was sending people back to their seats left and right, but as soon as he would leave, the same folks would come back up. Unfortunately he could not be everywhere at once, but the places he managed, were managed well.

This one gal, who I believe to be very loose, kept coming up and pushing her way up and giggling with the male security guards and touching their arms and acting a fool to get what she wanted. She came back up into our space countless times. Then she brought this 50 something year old guy up who was acting a fool and he was either drunk or a plain idiot. Not sure which. Well, security told them to go back, but instead, they assumed our seats. They pushed back to cover my husband and I up to appear that the seats belonged to them. We stood for it for a while, not wanting them to get in trouble and to "be nice". Well, they didn't leave and got more obnoxious until the guy was basically stomping on me. My husband told him that it was time for him to go back to his seat and he said something profane to my husband and pushed him. What nerve? Then my husband told him again that it was time to go to his seat and the freak pushed him again and acted like he was going to fight him. My husband grabbed his arm because he was trying to push us down and I could tell it was going to get nasty. I was afraid the guy would punch my husband, so I jumped in between them, hoping the guy wouldn't dare hit a woman. He kept at us so I jumped up and down, waving my hands in the aisle, trying to get security's attention. All this time, they were flirting with the girls up front. They finally came and as the freak was told to get back to his seat, he punched my husband in the ribs and told him he would see him in the parking lot. For what? Telling the 50 year old freak to be a decent person and stop stomping on his 5'0" wife and go back to the seat he paid for? And, the security didn't throw him out. He went back to his seat and believe it or not, pushed his way up with this vamp again!!! I spent the rest of the concert keeping him in my line of site because I feared he was a psycho and really might try something. So, that really put a damper on the evening with being pushed and almost assaulted at the concert by a man who was old enough to be mature. Now, we're 37, so 50 is not so far off for us...not saying at all that 50 is old. Just saying that by 50, you SHOULD have some sense and decency. He was dirty dancing around these girls and just disgusting and I regret that this was what I felt I had to watch to ensure that we weren't blindsighted by this guy while we were enjoying the concert.

He was a jerk and some of the other people were rude, but security should have prevented all of this from happening. Once I stood up in my seat to see Rick when he was out in the audience and security told me to get down. Well, you know, I did. I didn't argue with them and plead with them and act a fool and throw a punch. I just did. THAT's what you do folks.

I know this was long, but my husband and I work hard for our money and we have kids and this was a big occasion for us to get out and enjoy ourselves alone and to have this freak act like he was entitled to our seats and to try to cast us aside and treat us so poorly was upsetting. My husband thinks that this is someone with a lot of money and he has been coddled and spoiled (not that others with lots of money are like that, but you know the type). That has to be the only explanation why a guy who was such a freak to have any girls around him.
Off my soap box. Beautiful place, awesome concert, wonderful set up. Poor Security!
