Russ's Pizza closed back in 2005 or 2006. In fact, the owner died at age 49 just a couple of weeks ago. Mario Schiopu has been putting together a fantastic steak and chop house in that same location for the past couple of months. The old pizzaria stood vacant until Mario took over. He tore everything out and put in all new fixtures and dining areas, redocrated the walls into "traditional" steakhouse image. Apparently its been a long process to get the place going, but he hopes to open in July 2008 with what he says will be the best steak and chop hous in the tri-valley, bar none. It will be better than that other place off Portola or the one in Dublin. So, stay tuned !
