Album Overview
This bass-clad, heavy hitting album is reminiscent of a time when effort was put forth to contrive quality hip-hop tracks, offering a refreshing fusion of electronic synth leads and crisp snares sitting between
bass tones that will make any subwoofer knock with pride. Well constructed and intellectual rhymes
dress the production in a way only Christ’s MC can do it. Too metropolitan for the southern flow, yet too down home for the eastern category, this New Mexico dweller brings a breath of fresh air and could possibly pioneer a new sound and form a signature vibe for his neck of the woods. Featuring hot acts like Damon “DJ D-Lite” O’Brien (The official Holy Hip-Hop DJ of the year), Knock, The Bridge,
Young Jabez, C-Micah and Saint Loc, this album is jam packed with bangers. A few slower anthem
tracks are included, yet the bulk of this album is energetic and enthusiastic.
Spiritual Significance
This album bypasses systematic theology and brings the listener something far more vivid and fun than any sermon. Without issuing overt bible quotes, or filling in gaps in the rhymes with cheesy Jesus
references, CMC gives us a glimpse into the life of a Christian walking in what one may refer to as a “spirit of crunkness.” Don’t call this album lackluster because it’s not a consortium of scriptural
references. Call it ear candy because it sounds great and offers the type of encouragement which will
leave the listeners feeling bulletproof in their faith. This album is a mean grimace in the face of the world and the enemy and a confident, rock solid depiction of a life lived in utter disregard for naysayers. Case in point, CMC is a monster for Christ, offering an incredible mix for any car-ride or
workout that will obliterate worldly influence and remind believers that we too can be fearless!
Topics Covered
The bulk of this album is focused on proclaiming faith boldly. The vast majority of the tracks speak on
what real hip-hop music is, what a quality MC looks like, and how hard CMC is as an artist, infusing
these ideas with Christ and offering him as the source and solution. Subject matter diverges on occasion and focuses on things such as: Cultural liberation icon Dr. Martin Luther King and CMC’s testimony, juxtaposing a loose lifestyle with a life of victory and conveying a very genuine heart-change. All in all, the album focuses on who we are and how devout, strong and crunk we should be in our forgiveness and
resurrection!
Key Tracks
“More Than Music”-One of the hottest samples ever acquired is accompanied by sharp lyricism which
brings a stimulating encouraging vibe along with accurate depiction of struggle and triumph.
“It’s On”-Damon O’ always brings a sick tag team. He’s at it again, assisting CMC in supplying a
banger which looks the world in the eye and shouts “It’s O Now”!!
“Cold As Ice”-This track samples the infamous Foreigner track by the same title. It offers a rant on the
former life, the transition, and the new fruit. This is a BANGER. If you’re a flawed and fallen human
who had to be cleaned up (i.e. ANY BELIEVER BREATHING), you’ll be smacked in the face with
familiarity and find yourself relating deeply with this tale and nodding your head to the uncanny bass line.
