If you haven't heard this stand up comedy concert, you owe it to yourself to hear it! If you have ever told anyone "I am going to go out tonight and get drunk because I deserve it..." then you certainly need to hear Bill's take on the idea. This is nothing like Fat Albert or The Cosby Show. It is totally adult oriented and sheds a broader light into what is probably the real Bill Cosby and not some script written by a group of writers for the Nielson ratings. A funny bit to say the least.
The Killers are one of my currently overplayed iTunes selections. There is something about their "fast paced-narrative" music that just keeps my attention for some reason. I love it!
This group is just really hot. "Harder to Breathe" and "This Love" are two of my faves by them. Their R&B and "pop" sound really makes their music enjoyable. However, my very favorite song of theirs is "Makes me Wonder"- Whew! That is a good "strength" song for when you are going through a break up. Also, their videos are very hot! :-)
This group has seen its better days. sure they had a few hits back in the day, but their music did not grow with them- their sound is still the same as it was when they actually "were" famous.
Eric Clapton. That says it all. "Wonderful Tonight", "After Midnight", "Lay Down Sally"- oldies but goodies. However, those oldies are not seen as such to even the youth of today. It's almost as if the younger generation doesn't realize how old those songs really are. Eric Clapton's musical talents are by far among the best of all musicians in the history of music.
Being from the south, I enjoy music which speaks to the heart. Every song which Kenny Chesney sings does just that. He just has that down-home attitude which makes his music very believable. "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems" is one of my favorites! Only Kenny could sing a song about a "tractor" being sexy!
Reba is an all-time favorite Country Music Diva! Her music of love lost, love gained, "been done wrong" and "been done right" has touched the lives of millions of people and provided quite a few toe taps and tears. I enjoy her singing, but only wish she had not taken on the acting career and stayed strictly to music. Regardless of her acting abilities, her concerts are a huge production and leaves everyone walking away with a smile!
Matchbox Twenty has been one of my favorite groups since they stepped into the spotlight in 1996. I totally love this band! Their songs are real-life oriented and speak to so many demographics. "Bright Lights", "Disease", "Unwell", and "3AM" are some of my all-time favorites. And they are not hard on the eyes either!
I recall The Eagles were one of the groups that my father adored when I was a young boy. I suppose I inherited this adoration after actually sitting down and listening to their lyrics as opposed to "noise" in the background. Their music speaks to many areas of reality which is unlike most of the mainstream music today. "Hotel California", "Long Run", "New Kid In Town", and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" are the songs I remember most from The Eagles as a young boy, and now as I am older, they are still part of my iTunes playlist. :-)
I recently went to Catch with a friend for brunch on a Sunday. It was on a very nice day weather-wise, but the open-air patio setting 'inside' was very nice. The fireplace in the center of the open space kept everyone warm and cozy. The service was very prompt and the food was quite delicious. I am looking forward to returning for dinner sometime soon.
If you have seen one Die Hard movie, you have pretty much seen this one as well. The movie starts out giving the viewers hope that this one will be different, but never follows through. Bruce Willis again is tasked with saving the world, rescuing his daughter, and of course blowing shit up, killing people, and doing the same old same old as he always does. The movie does give some realistic concepts exposure, but before it is over, even those concepts are totally blown out of proportion. For example, at one point the evil guys are able to connect to an elevator camera with just a few keystrokes on their remote computer. That is just one of the MANY unrealistic points in the film. The movie would be better if they just did a 10 minute trim down to only show the special effects and the explosions (those are the only 'new' features that distinguish between other Die Hard films). Not sure I could suggest this film to anyone in good conscience.
A friend and I went to see Ratatouille over the weekend. Little did we know that we would both walk away singing the praises of not only the visual quality but the storyline and content of the film as well.
This was indeed the best movie I have seen this year (and I see a lot of movies)! In San Francisco it is not typical (not in my experience) for the audience to erupt in a thunderous applause at the end of a movie as school children do in their libraries before recess. However, the audience of this film reacted as such and kept the applause rolling as the credits continued. In fact, the person attending the film with me was spotted crying near the end of the film when the critic recites his review (the most amazing review I have ever heard!).
The funniest line in the film... well.. you will have to see it, but it involves the phrase.. "as soon as they found out there were rats in the restaurant..."
An amazing film which I intend to add to my personal collection when it is released on DVD. This is a must see.
This is the one and only barbeque place that gets my business in the bay area! They have SWEET TEA!!! Being a southern native, I absolutely LOVE the food and the tea! The atmosphere is fun, filled with country music, country-style seating and decor, and a friendly staff that makes you feel at home! Just like the south! Recently I was there with a friend and he ordered "unsweet" tea. He was then informed by the server, "Sir, we don't serve dirty water here, and unsweet tea is just dirty water!"
I love this place! :-)
(P.S. Get the brisket, with corn bread, potatoe salad, and of course, SWEET TEA!!!!)
I recently went to Eric's with a friend and we both thought this was the best chinese restaurant in town! Amazingly enough, I had driven by it many times as it is right in my neighborhood. The wonton soup was to die for! I had the Orange Beef as my entree and I can't tell you in words how delicious it was! This restaurant ranks right up there in my top 5 restaurants in the city!
If you are looking for a place to dance off some energy, this is the place to go! Although the crowd can be touch and go with people from the neighborhood or more likely people from out of town, this is still a great place to have a great time. The music and music videos are a great touch! The staff is very friendly. There is coat check for battling the Bay area weather when you dont want to keep up with your belongings. If you want to go dancing in the Castro, this is the place to be!
This is a really cool place to hang out when you don't know where else to go. The staff is very friendly, the patrons are mixed from locals to out of towners. However, the best part of the Sun is the music and comedy clips which are played on the large screens. Overall, just a fun place to chill.
I recently attended a club gossip event at the Cat Club and I had a blast! It was a night called Trannyshack vs. Club Gossip and two of the singers from the all girl band "The Go-Go's" were there to judge performances of trannyshack performers to the music of the Go-Go's. It was a hoot! Afterwards there was dancing, dancing, and more dancing. It was really a fun place to be!
The movie starts out with about 25 mins of Ashley Judd smoking outside her sleezy motel room listening to a ringing phone which she sometimes picks up and sometimes doesnt. The movie doesnt get ANY better after that. It is a totally insane story line and the characters suck! When I went to see "Bug", there were about 25 people in the theater. When the movie was over, everyone sat around and talked about how horrible the movie was. I felt 'dumber' for suffering through it. Save your brain cells and do NOT go see this movie. I wish I hadn't.
I attended the opening night of this film and have to admit, at first I thought it was going to be a total snooze-filled 2 hours of stupidity and awkward comedy. I was pleasantly surprised. The movie had a nice flow and the humor was not as cheezy as I expected. I would say that those persons who like laughing out loud should see this film.
