The prefix "Dinner" was two minuscule plates -- well flavored red meat and very overcooked fish, and a scoop of gelato. Each one was about two bites.
Service was poor -- our unfriendly waiter often disappeared for long periods, and flatly refused to bring bread to the table. The server who delivered the food had dirty fingernails, was visibly shaking and almost dropped the food on us. The music was far too loud -- it was impossible to carry on a dinner conversation without shouting, and the next day our ears were ringing.
The biggest shock was the bill. For "dinner" and two of the least expensive "house drinks" the total was over $80/person. We left hungry and disappointed-

The adventure of a lifetime.
Great service, unfortunately not matched by similar food. The chicken parmigiana was decent, the jumbo prawns were cold and seemed like they came from Safeway across the street and had mayo smeared on them.
Images cannot possibly capture the majestic beauty of the Taj Mahal. Its marble slowly changes color with the light of day, giving it a thousand hues. As you approach the main building, you will discover that it is inlaid with tens of thousands of semi-precious stones. They form images of flowers and writing with workmanship so good that they they at first appear to be paintings. Come visit this wonder of the world to truly appreciate its beauty.
This hidden gem is a must see for anyone visiting the de Young or looking for a relaxing oasis.
The sound system and lighting are great, and you cannot beat the layout -- which offers the best of both a big club, and an intimate bar. A great place to catch almost any type of show.
For those who like a hotel with a little attitude, it's difficult to beat the W. This one is in a perfect location.
The design and location are amazing, but be prepared to pay a painful $8 for a medium-size plastic cup of Budweiser Light.
The biggest and the best club in San Francisco. Under its new ownership the inside has been nicely redecorated, and the staff is much more friendly. However, the crowd that shows up is not as warm. Head here for headliners, or if you are with a big group of friends who can shield you from the meat market.
The surreal beauty of the building almost exceeds some of the art inside. Definitely visit the top of the tower (free) for a gorgeous panoramic of San Francisco, and the outside cafe on a nice sunny day. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the surrounding park after your visit.
This is certainly one of the most beautiful theaters in the Bay Area. It effortlessly captures the elegance and splendor of art deco, and is staffed by friendly employees who are knowledgeable and appreciative of its history.
Slim's has a great location and space -- and the sound system is very good -- but the staff has all the warmth of professional prison guards. The fun begins with being heavily frisked at the door, and continues as you are forced to buy drinks if you want to sit down. Immediately after the music stops, the staff shows their first real enthusiasm as they herd you out the door as quickly as possible. Visit this place only if you love the band.
This gallery offers a treasure trove of great art at affordable prices. Each month features an entirely new selection from local, emerging artists, with an opening party on the first Friday of every month. During the party you can enjoy wine and meet the artists. It's a fun friendly place that should not be missed.
True to the book, it is a movie that asks bold questions, and does not give simple answers. Outstanding screenplay, direction and acting.
There is nothing like catching Lorin live. He is one of the top "underground" DJs in the world.
Amazing performance at the Paramount in Oakland -- with all the rawness and magic of her early years.
Phil puts on a good show, but the rest of the group seems tired. On Tuesday they played a curious mix of their most popular and most obscure songs. Other observations: iPhones are the new bic lighters and $225 seats are only average.
You better be prepared to dance!
Impossible to explain, just go!
Where else can you dance to great DJs, meet fun people, look at awesome art, and still always be home a little after 10pm?
Whether you are here for the art, the music or a good drink, Minna always has a great atmosphere, and makes a perfect midweek escape.
