I went to see Marley & Me hoping it would be a heart warming story of a family and their dog. Instead, I saw this poorly acted "drama" (except for Alan Arkin's small role as a convincing newspaper manager) with annoying pop music in the background. Really, Hollywood, spend of few of those big bucks you make and pay for a THEME SOUNDTRACK.
Totally unconvincing, these 2 professional reporters played by Aniston and Owens are tracked through roughly 10 years of their marriage with their dog. Even though both their hairstyles have not changed in these years, their dogs and children are replaced with aging counterparts.
Of course, we are supposed to fall in love with the dog, Marley, who destroys everything in sight. How cute. Two college educated professionals with good incomes could not figure out how to tame one of the most popular and intelligent breeds today, the Labrador Retreiver. I believe they are used for seeing eye dogs for the blind!!
Save your money and tears, rent another good dog movie like "My Dog Skip". And watch out; with the money this movie made, look for 10 more similar stinkers like this from Hollywood.
