That was a great show, and it really brought me into contact with this group. I figured it was gonna be epic just from the way they were portrayed in the show, and I wasn't dissapointed. I mean, it's not like I ever got to see them perform once in the show, but seeing them live was a totally different story.
It's like watching a really good rock concert. Obviously most stuff is precussion, but they really are what other successful groups that do similar stuff are based on. Stomp is in the same vein, but even as a full blown music, they can't put on a show that is really comparable. I think I may have the best mix, now that I think about it. Imagine if you mixed Stomp and Daft Punk. You get the awesome episodic stage show with really impressive, basic, sounds mixed excellently.
I took a half star off for the price, but I would pay it again.
Sure it was free, but I still feel like I was cheated out of a little bit of life, and that is almost the same as it costing money.
Something about this guy rubs me the wrong was. I just get this feeling from him like he's envisioned himself as some kind of hipster. I think if he didn't try to push this douchy image he wouldn't be so bad. I think this is the type of guy that Job from "Arrested Developement" was based on.
he's not bottom rung though. No matter how much I dislike him I can't bottom out the review because he is a well known magician that puts on a show that lots of people like. You can certainly pick a much worse show to see.
Try the General Tso's chicken, it's delicious here! The wait staff is very prompt and accurate and while the decoration is rather blah everything important about a restaurant (the food and service) is great!
Yeah they serve food here, and it's alright for comedy club food, but it really is a comedy club and not a restaurant. If you are here for anything besides what's on stage, you are here for the wrong reason.
That said, it's a great place to catch some comedy!
A nice atmosphere, with live music, and good drink deals on Wednesdays makes this one of my favorite places. I had to remove a half star though for the volume control on the speakers for the live music. It can get pretty unbearable, even outside, if you aren't there for the music and you just want to talk to some friends over a few drinks.
This is an alright bar if you are in the area, but the wait staff doesn't seem to enjoy their jobs and the food is nothing memorable. If the staff were a little happier, I suppose the price wouldn't matter, but they aren't, so it does.
Another odd thing is the age of the wait staff. It's almost questionable wether or not some of them are actually old enough to be server beer, but I'll give em the benefit of the doubt there.
It's worth going once, to see everyone in kilts, but I'd wager once is enough for most.
This place is a little overpriced for what you're served, and the service could be mch better. It's clear that this place is trying to be a hot spot, and the location is fine for that, but there aren't enough things going on for it beyond the general ambiance to draw a crowd.
Impressively authentic. If you were curious what this would look like served in Japan, order a dish and you'll know.
While this place does give in to fusion a couple times in the menu, almost everything you can order here is serverd in the old style, with both cold and warm variants of many.
As much as this is a chain, and people generally frown upon giving chains perfect ratings, I have to give exception to Ruth's Chris Steak House. I've never once been dissapointed and it is perhaps the only place where I truely feel I am getting my money's worth. I can cook a mean steak myself, but for $40.00 you would be expecting exactly what you get here.
An upscale seafood joint that serves steak as well. This could be considered the Ruth Chris' of seafood. The only thing prohibiting a 5 star rating was the chef not quite getting the big lobster as tender as it should be. Admittedly, the larger the lobster the harder it is, but I would expect them to get it for the expense. This would be a bigger ding had this also not been right before closing, but a perfect rating goes only to a perfect experience.
Think McDonald's or Mr. Chow's and that pretty much what you have here. The food is just fine for grubbing, if that's all you are really after, but if you are looking for something a little more special, look elsewhere.
I can't really say there is anything gross about the food, it is just really lackluster.
While there isn't shark on the menu (as one might expect by the name of this place) there are many other choices. Their specialties seem to be the numerous seafood soups available.
They also have a buffet, but you would be doing yourself a disservice denying yourself one of their specials in favor of something pre-made.
This restaurant was apparently taken over by someone named Bill, rather than it's namesake Paul. The food is still good, but I have been told by many that there is something lacking when compared to the old management.
That said, this is still an excellent restaurant and if you don't have the past to compare it to, I'd wager you wouldn't see anything wrong with it at all.
That's a lot of books for one person to burn.
.. but come on, use your head. This is obvious bullshit. Ringling Brothers is actually rather well known for how well they treat their animals. They are constantly in the public eye (it's what they do...) and there is no way a show that abused animals would be allowed to freely cross state lines with no issues what so ever.
I think what is really going on here is more PETA bullshit. Read this person's description. "Ringling Bro abuses & neglects [wild animals]." Sorry, there are no wild animals at the circus. They may call them that to draw numbers, and make it sound more exciting, but don't be a fool, these lions and tigers have never seen the jungle or Savannah and would probably get killed by their natural food source if they were actually forced to hunt. Of course, PETA and others have always argued that there mere domestication of animals is a form of cruelty.
I'm not gonna argue against that, even though I think it's dumb, they can think whatever, but I think it's gotta be counter productive to raise shit in front of people with disposable income like circus goers, or their children. It's your right though, so if you wanna be stupid and waste time and gullible people's money, then go ahead, but try to keep it down, people came to enjoy the show, and ruining their family experience for your moral crusade is a dick move.
Thats the whole goal with the look. People can argue otherwise, but Disney knows how to sell people, and at this point in time, thats emo.
Everyone who seems to argue this is missing the key tenant of any Disney property, and that is that if they would make enough money off of it, they would even stage an upset with people over their own morality clause over what is obviously PG 13 ala Hanna Montana.
Now this place is always open. And I think, more so than anyplace I've ever been, this is a true statement. From my understanding, the only time this place has ever closed was for an hour, while the employees were talking to the police about a crime that occured nearby. This place is always open, warm, serving.
There is a "no games" sign on the wall that people always seem to get pissed off about, but those people are apparently too emotionally damaged to realize that it's not okay to monopolize one of the 5 booths in the place for over an hour, even if the place looks empty at the time, the guy knows a board game when he sees one, and that it would be an even bigger problem if he didn't stop you at the beginning of your game vs. later when you were totally involved in it and the place was packed.
The donuts are fine and the coffee is bad, but in an addicting way. The secret to this place is walking over to the oil and seeing what he is making at the time. I have gotten donuts here so hot I had to wait and blow on them before consuming. That is awesome.
This is one of those places you pass by all the time, but rarely stop at. Fortunately, the place I was going to eat had closed early that night so I decided to give this place a try. It was truly fantastic! I had a NY Steak stuffed with some kind of cheese and spinach that was like butter in my mouth. The food is very upscale. This is really what fusion restaurants should be gunning for when they open their doors and the chefs at Arya have succeeded wonderfully.
I had a very pleasant dinner here. I would say this falls under more of the American Italian restaurant than a true Italian restaurant. They served some really delicious looking steaks to my party and a very tasty pasta to me. The service was attentive, but not overbearing and they managed to get our food out to us faster than I would have expected with the place as packed as it was. It is located very close to the hotels in town (which is why I was there) and would make for a great dinner out without having to venture too far from where you are staying.
They have a nice cocktail selection as well. Although I only had a rum and coke, the rest of my party seemed to really enjoy all their drinks.
This was a VERY comfortable hotel. It was withing a 5 minute walk to the site I was visiting, so very convenient. They recently made the hotel smoke free, which is great if you don't, but I do, and there were places out front and out back (lit and monitored, so you're safe) where you can still indulge. The staff was very helpful, and the only bad things I can say have more to do with being bored in Ohio than the hotel itself. There is a good selection of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, but the hotel restaurant was also quite pleasant. If I ever have to go back to Columbus, I would love staying here again.
I have to admit, I was dreading this for a bit after some of the previous Dr. Suess movies. This one was really well done though. I think the difference had everything to do with keeping the movie done entirely as a cartoon. Alot of the imagery doesn't really carry over to live action very well.
There was alot of humor for both kids and the parents chaperoning them. As a 24 year old, I found it very entertaining.
Chris Rock is someone I have always admired as a comedian. He understands when it is time to be silly and he knows how to use observational comedy. Although he is often yelling, it isn't a crutch he relies on like other comedians. Rock also updates his material frequently, which is really important for a personality such as his, where trying to fake excitement and rage can look really silly if it isn't fresh enough in his mind to still be emotional over.
Chris Rock is a true comedian, worthy of the attention he has recieved.
There are a few things that bother me about Cho, and most of them are superficial. The content of her bits is often a little punkish, but come out sounding like a valley girl, which just seems weird to me. It really detaches me from her, which is a bad thing for a comedian. A good comedian should make you feel like you're there when telling the story through imagery, or express things you can relate to, so you can fill in the gaps yourself. Imagining a character like herself follow through her stories feels unbelievable, and not in the good way. I often wonder how she didn't get decked for just being annoying. She also falls into the common pitfall of self depreciating race jokes. Thats always a bit of a cop out. I mean, I'm fine with it, but when she starts to bomb, out comes the impressions of her mom and the ridiculously thick "asian" accent.
If you like Carlos Mencia, you'll probably like Margaret Cho, which isn't a bad thing, because they aren't horrible comedians if you are into that thing, but their humor really has to be similar to your own for it to be appreciated at all. I find alot of my gay friends really like her because of her strong background in San Francisco, but when asked for specific examples they rarely have anything that doesn't sound kinda dumb upon repeating it outside the comedy scene. Guess you had to be there...
This is definitely a girly movie, but I was able to appreciate it as a guy anyways. This may have to do with the entire movie being told from the perspective of the guy. I was really able to understand alot of motive in this story which is often rare in a romantic comedy. I often have to suspend disbelief, but in this case, you wont have to. The story looks like it is going to jump around alot int he previews but really didn't on screen. I would recommend it, even if you just choose to rent it later. It's worth seeing.
That pretty much sums it up! I think Jay-Z would do well to quit the game at this point and stick to running his company. It certainly garners him more respect, and thats where it is really deserved. He was a decent performer at best.
Dolly impresses me in the same was way a silicon dish impresses me when it withstands the heat of an oven. The silicone may be the end of the similarities between these two though.
Dolly Parton is to country what Vanilla Ice was to Rap. Definitely a big player, but in the end, a joke. If not for her giant rack, there would be no reason whatsoever for her to show her face in public again. After expressing her political beliefs, and thereby attempting to step out of her realm, she really exposed the trailer trash within, and any good she may have done through charity is now null in my ethics book.
I've always felt Crow was a bit overplayed and that she really didn't bring anything new to the scene. To that end, anything she ever did I found remotely good were covers of already successful bands. I actually had to struggle to remember who she was before writing this, and when I played myself something to remember, it was something akin to a vomit burp.
This is the best place to catch independent films in the area. Not only do you get the independent films here but some of the main stream ones if you missed them in their first run through the theaters.
Biggest Con: As with anything in Downtown San Jose, you will be paying for parking and it will be a pain to find.
And one of the best on the West coast for that matter. I have been a season ticket holder here for the past 5 years, and will continue to be for years to come no doubt.
Pro-Tip: Order your food and drinks before the show and pick them up from the table during intermission to avoid a line furring those precious 15 minutes you get.
Its a good place, but you've all been here before. It is spot to come enjoy a meal with your family. Not really a celebration spot, but it could be. I would recommend it if you don't have mass quantities of cash at your disposal to enjoy a truly fantastic steak at Alexander's in nearby Cupertino
Now this has always been a dream for me. A place where I could get fresh cooked meat, en mass, buffet style, that tastes great. The food isn't much to look at, and presentation is almost non-existent, but this is great no frills food, in a super comfortable environment. There is a full bar in the back. It is amazing just how big this place is. You wouldn't believe it from the outside, or driving by, but this place is HUGE!
There are no frills, but you can eat your meal in a comfy leather bound chair at a table with your friends. They really take advantage of all the space too, because you really can't eavesdrop on people here. You could if you tried, but there is so much room, you don't have to be talking over anyone but the people seated at your table.
Remember what it was like before the really big pizza chains really took over? There were pizza places that were part pizza, part sports bar. This is one of those places. The kids working here can get a little uppity sometimes, but all in all, it's a good spot. It obviously doesn't get the attention it would have, and did, 10 years ago, but the place still pulls in customers and has the game on when you come in.
I imagine this as a great place to have little league dinners and a night out with the boys. Everyone can enjoy Jake's. I have some great memories here.
I mean really pretty stuff. These guys know what they are doing. Everything looks delicious and they really know how to use their fruits properly and make them the focal point of the dish. That is kinda rare for a bakery. I am not a big fruit eater. I mean, I eat fruit, but if someone gave me a basket of strawberries or something, it would take me about a week to eat them.
If I only ate fruit that came on the pastries found here though, I would easily consume the same amount, along with the delicious cakes they come on, in a day.
This place is totally packed on weekends. It is a great breakfast place right across the street from another great breakfast place, Bobbi's. If you can't get into one, get into the other. There is alot more variety here though. The dutch baby is a deep dish waffle-pancake-thingy that is totally awesome, but you have to wait 20 minutes for them to cook one for you. It will be worth it if you really like your pancakes though.
This place has burnt down a few times already, and it is rumored that they did it purposefully for the insurance money. I would believe it, because I don't see how they could stay in business with the amount of space they have and the amount of business they do.
This is a mediocre Chinese food place. I mean, it's better than Mr. Chou's but the fact that it can be compared to fast food when it's a seated establishment, speaks volumes of the quality. They have the room and the free tables to take a big party if you are having one, and the staff is always attentive, because you might be one of 3 people eating there at any given time.
If you aren't on foot, drive on down to Steven's Creak Blvd and Check out Hong Fu instead. It is far and away superior to this establishment in every single way.
You could do better than "the Brit" as it's called by the locals, but it really has everything you would expect of a pub. Karaoke on some nights. A pool table, darts, and international Soccer/Futball on TV. It has enough space for an average night o not feel overcrowded, but because it is the pub of choice, there are nights where it can get a little cozy.
My biggest gripe about this place is the cover charge for hip-hop night. I don't want to hear it, and it is actually a nuisance. I purposefully sit outside just to hope I can't hear it (it doesn't work). Basically, I would prefer they give me my first drink free, instead of charging me $10.00 to put up with crap I don't even want to hear. I suppose businesses don't stay in business by giving their product away, but they could certainly do without driving most people away once a week.
This is basically an old school coffee shop gone diner. The food here is generally a step above a Denny's, Carrow's, or Marie Calendar's, at about the same price. I definitely prefer the 24 hour stops more because I really only want this food after a late night of drinking, but sometimes it's nice to stop in here for some good cooking and their original Flames cheesecake.
The cheesecake is really their most defining option on the menu. Anything else you could get elsewhere, both far better and far worse.
This particular Mr. Chou's has been shut down at least 2 different times for health code violations. That should tell you something. It could tell you that they are really careful now because they don't want their third strike, or it could tell you they are really disgusting. I've never had a problem here, but I know what I am getting myself into when I order, so it may just be that my expectations make it more tolerable for me.
There is a Togo's in the Oaks strip mall right across from De Anza College. Take the time and drive there because Subway is a horrible choice, and I wouldn't even subject strangers to it.
You get almost no meat, the bread sucks, it tastes bad, the employees are mentally deficient, and if that wasn't enough, it's in an annoying spot. I wouldn't be surprised if rats didn't eat there either.
I can see how Jared lost all that weight, I wouldn't want to eat after going there either.
... which you are in Cupertino, Yiassoo's makes a pretty solid choice for Greek food. I can't complain, because I'm no expert, but I imagine this is a pretty good example of what Greek fast food should taste like.
If you are just looking for a snack, I recommend getting the little deep fried dough balls with honey and powdered sugar drizzled on it. I don't remember the name, but as I said, I'm not an expert.
I can safely say, this is the most consistent restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food is always good. Not great, but good. If you are thinking, "I want Pasta." You would be making a good choice in eating here. I personally always end up with the Tortellini Carbonara, because it's my favorite, but they have a nice variety that never disappoints. If you are looking for something special or interesting, you may have better luck with some of the finer dining establishments, like Cafe Torre, down the street and around the corner, but bang for your buck pasta doesn't get done much better than this.
You really wouldn't expect a restaurant of this caliber in a strip mall like this. It is truly exceptional food. It is a little pricey, but well worth the cost. Rarely does something cost over $20 a plate and I don't feel somewhat ripped off. I had my birthday dinner here after hearing about it from a co-worker, and it was amazing. The specials are all really good and even with a big party the food arrived quickly.
The only reason I am docking a half star is because the waiter was actually too friendly with the regulars. It was our first time there, but the waiter actually stopped taking our order midway through, to go greet someone who had just walked in the door, that they obviously recognized.
To be fair, the commedians that end up here go from really great to really bad, so I can't really critique the lineup, but I really don't like the way the place is run.
Booze here is ultra expensive, which I'm sure annoys the comedians, because really, that can make a HUGE difference in the success of your act. Also you would think if you were first in line you would get first shot at seats. Instead you are moved in order to fill seats from front to back. I know what your thinking, "That's not a bad thing." You're wrong. The seats up front are really close, granted, but they are also really uncomfortable and you are at an awkward level with the performer. Also, you will be facing your back to the rest of your party the whole show if you end up in the chairs on the other end of the table instead of the bench seats. So no good place to put your $9.00 BOTTLED Guiness either. The food is sub par, but that is forgivable because it's not a restaurant.
Basically, you want to be fashionably late, because the best seats are in the middle section where you have tables and all the seats are sideways. I mean even that leaves half the table with bad seats, but at least they will be comfortable and have someplace to rest their hands and their drinks/food.
Really Hayden is a piss poor actor. Thats what it comes down to. If you need a sobbing mess, he's your man, but I really can't take him seriously. I completely fail to suspend disbelief when he is on the screen.
I guess the best way to explain it would be like watching a high school play. You already know that when watching McBeth that the kids playing the roles aren't going to be the best old men you've ever seen. They just can't be. That is the way I feel about this guy. Every role seems like a high school flashback.
I could be wrong though in the future. He may just not have been given roles to really blossom in yet. Only time will tell.
The placement of this restaurant was really a no brainer to me. I honestly think there should be a Pizza My Heart next to every theater so you always have the option to grab a quick slice before seeing your movie.
This is one of those places that everyone sees when they go shopping at Westgate, but everyone assumes is going to be pricey. Everyone was right. The food is not very good. I mean it's certainly not garbage, or even close to it, but it's not worth it's cost. I would prefer Marie Calendar's where I know the foods quality, at the very least matches, if not exceeds it's price.
All in all, not a good value.
My friends and I have been on the quest for a really great burger joint for a while. Until we find it, we eat at the Red Robin. I really enjoy the different varieties of lemonade here when I am driving for the night, but the mixed drinks are pretty good as well on more festive nights.
I am a big fan of the Royal Red Robin, which is a burger with a fried egg on it. I usually swap out all the veggies and stuff to get another patty so I have a burger consisting of 2 meat patties and an egg with cheese. It is heavenly... It may send me there one day as well, but I can say it was worth it.
This is a great neighborhood theater. It doesn't have all the biggest movies, because it just doesn't have the screens for it, and all those get routed to AMC Mercado 20, but you can see almost everything you'd want to here. The place is clean, but a bit of a kid-fest before 10PM, so if you are over 21, go get a drink at the Red Robin across the parking lot and wait for the last showing if you want to really enjoy yourself.
This is, by far, the best Century theater I've ever been to. I will admit that I am a bit of an AMC fanboy (if movie theaters can really have fanboys) but the place is clean and doesn't feel like a relic of the past, as is common in most Century theaters for me.
There is alot of traffic, but there is always parking. They can seat alot more people per movie, because century theaters have really big dome theaters in comparison. This aspect can be both good and bad though as rabble rousers can really foul up a movie in these theaters, and more people means a higher chance of one of them being a jerk. It only takes one to ruin the movie for everyone.
I'll always prefer an AMC theater over a Century, but if asked, I wouldn't refuse to goto this place, which is more than I could say for any of the others.
Up until the AMC in Cupertino Square open up, this was the place to catch alot of the really big movies. AMC 14 had most, but few theaters have as many screens as this AMC and can keep movies going as long.
The parking can be hellish if you come durring a weekend with many new movies, but there is space to contain the traffic it drives. I've never not been able to find a spot, but I have drove around for over 15 minutes before too. Make sure you give yourself time for the parking.
Other than that, the theaters themselves are all nice and clean. As clean as can be expected for a place that gets that kind of traffic anyways. This place wont be going out of business anytime soon.
This is one of those places that is cursed by location. I think they would do much better were they located in a more visible spot. That said, the place is never empty. I can understand why! The sushi is great and the portions are above average. They do have an interesting way of ordering your sushi though. They bring out a form and you write down the quantity of each order you want. It is pretty upfront about their pricing as well because you can really just tally up the cost as you do this. The regular food orders are taken by a waitress. When I went here, everything was excellent. I would say its a little pricey, but you are getting what you pay for, and with a location like this, I would say it needs the extra $0.50
This place always appears to me as a neighborhood joint. I don't see it as a huge destination spot. If you are at Cupertino Square and looking for some Sushi though, skip Todai and come here!
So here's the story. My friends and I decided to stop by here and get a bite to eat before seeing a movie. It was just opening so we figured we would support a new local business. The food was decent, but perhaps just not my thing. California fusion restaurants can be like that. It depends what aspects of food they want to fuse together, and in this case it was interesting, but nothing I felt strongly compelled to come back for.
The drinks are pretty expensive, so I figure these must be the highlight of the place. They had a pretty impressive looking bar, so it seemed like a safe bet. I look down the list and I see a chocolate vodka martini. Since I had completed my meal, I decided it was time for dessert and ordered it. For reference, it was called the Silver Surfer. What I got back was a martini glass of vodka, with what appeared to be crushed up coco puffs (the cereal) floating on top. I guess this was the aforementioned chocolate. All in all, a really "meh" drink, and considering it was $8.75, it was crap.
I definitely recommend giving it a shot. It deserves at least that, but be warned, it could be as big a waste of money for you as it was for me.
I have to say that I don't expect much when I goto a chain restaurant like this, but I have never been disappointed here, which I can't say of many other places either. I think I always get exactly the value of what I pay for here. The food is good, not great, but 8 dollars good.
This is one of the places I always end up before seeing a movie at the AMC in the mall across the parking lot. The booze is relatively cheap so it's always fun to get nice and tipsy to really make the most out of some bad movies.
This is a neighborhood bar, with some pretty solid pluses to it, like great seating (indoor and out), fun bartenders, and reasonable prices. As in any neighborhood bar though, you get some crazies passing through every now and then, but with the booths, they are easy to avoid. The seating outdoors is warm with heaters, but don't go out there if you mind cigarette smoke. I'm a smoker myself, so this isn't an issue for me, but it's so comfortable inside that I always end up in a booth anyways.
There are no great option for food in the immediate vicinity. You will have to get in your car if you want something past 8:00PM. The shopping center itself has been a focal point of controversy in the surrounding area due to many of the signs being completely written in Chinese. If that bothers you, you are in a good spot though, because you can drink those worries away, but I know it is something to consider for some people when picking a hangout.
All in all, this isn't an amazing bar, but you could do far worse.
This is definitely the best place to get a steak in town. Hands down, you will find a steak here and enjoy it. If you don't eat meat, a steak house probably isn't for you, but they do have amazingly done fish dishes and surprisingly filling salads (with or without the meat).
If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, there are few places better to celebrate it. If you don't have a solid amount of coin, I would take a pass though. With great food can come a hefty price, and Alexander's is no exception. You can spend well over $200.00 on some Kobe beef here, which I honestly think is great, but you will be just as satisfied with the $38.00 regular beef steaks here as well.
If the price really throws you off and you are willing to travel a short distance, I recommend Forbes Mill Steakhouse as a great substitute. If I had to compare these establishments to grades of gasoline, Alexander's is premium and Forbes Mill is Plus.
This theater was added to the old Valco Mall (Now Cupertino Square) as an attempt to both bring in money (obviously), but also to bring attention to what was a dying mall. I can say as a long time denizen of this area that I seriously thought the mall was on it's way out, and would end up torn down and replaced with town houses (as is often the case in Cupertino), but I now see this theater is here to stay.
The theater has brought new life back to the mall, and is bringing alot of foot traffic where there was none. I remember walking through the mall before the theater opened, thinking what a ghost mall it had become. Now, with the support of the population, this is the most promising development in town! The theater itself if incredibly clean and up to date in technology. I've even seen a 3D movie there, which is more than I can say for any of the surrounding theaters. If you live near by, or even if you don't, I highly recommend catching you flicks here!
Q: What is the difference between Rush Limbaugh and the Hindenburg?
A:One is a flaming fascist gasbag full of hot air, and the other is a blimp.
This is a great family owned Pizzeria. It's not run by an Italian family, but a local set of parents who's children grew up in the area and still work shifts there from time to time.
The pizza is great and definitely on par with many of the better pizza places I've been to. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had, because I've had alot, but I would never turn it down if suggested as a place to go for dinner.
It is conveniently close to the new AMC Theaters in Cupertino Square. If I had to give a negative, it would be that the place is small, so eating in can sometimes be a little cramped. They work well with what space they have though.
This is definitely a great place for a nice diner. Come here to celebrate something. The food is made right in front of you on a large flat grill.
The tables seat 8, and you will be seated with strangers if you are a small party, but I have never had this be anything but pleasant. This is probably because everyone is happy to be there so you don't have anyone grousing on the other side of the table about something. The chefs are known for doing little tricks while preparing your food and telling jokes. The experience really depends alot on what chef you get, as they all have their own skill levels and personalities, but that makes the draw stronger for me, because I know I wont always get the same show. Some of the best meals I've had there, the chef screwed up a trick and kept going (he was spinning an egg on his knife and accidentally dropped the egg, he was also constantly throwing stuff on the floor behind him by accident. It was hilarious!)
The meals do start over $20.00 per person though, and the experience would be diminished through repeat visits.
This is a great place if you want to goto bar, but want a little more as well. They have a full bar with sports and stuff playing on all the screen, but also bowling lanes.
As with any place that isn't exclusively a bowling alley, don't bring your own ball. If it gets damaged here because of their machinery, they will not have it resurfaced for you. This isn't a downside to the place, but just a general thing with all bowling alleys where the bowling is not their sole business.
Strikes is very loud as well, so this is not a good place for a first date. It is fun, but you will find yourself constantly shouting. I mean, bowling allies are loud by nature, but imagine that with a very loud club-like atmosphere as well. It can reach volumes of epic proportion.
The drinks are on the expensive side, but as far as places like this in Cupertino, it really stands out as what I imagine will be a solid part of the town's nightlife.
Booze and Melissa Archer sounds like a perfect night! I bet I would get kicked out for bothering her, if I even managed to get in the door.
I mean really, I think they can be a little less modest. They're really stupid.

Pop idols demand human sacrifices. It is part of the gig. R Kelly wizzed on a girl and he still makes albums. It's time we brought Michael back and put him to work again.
4 stars, just for being Michael Jackson. -1 for the children.
Perhaps I judged too harshly when first seeing this guy. When I checked out the videos linked for him here though, I have to admit, I really liked him. I can't say I'd go buy the CD, because I can't really understand any of it, and I think I'd loose alot not being able to actually see him, but I wouldn't mind seeing him perform.
He gets two stars though for failing so miraculously.
One of the best serious movies I've seen all year. That doesn't mean much when you know I don't see many serious movies, but discounting that it was truly fantastic. I crossed my genre barrier to see this movie, it was that good.
This band has followed me since childhood and I have to admit the music was good for a while, then bad, and it is starting to get good again, but just like how I grew out of the 80's, it might be a good idea for them to grow out of the 90's.
I always listen to Sting's greatest hits whenever I visit the dentist and it makes things a little more tolerable. I guess that makes him good medicine.
I seriously lost my vision. This guy has to be stopped! His awesomeness is too great, it cannot be unleashed upon the world at it's current state.
