So Mellow Mushroom is in fact a restaurant that serves awesomely creative pizzas. If you want a pizza with feta on it, you can get it here. But that aside, this is Tuscaloosa.

The upstairs bar has a big variety of beers on tap (I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 35). All Tuscaloosa and many of the region's finer indie music, reggae, and prog rock comes through. It's a solid venue with really good live acts, the drinks aren't outrageous, and the crowd is good (i.e. not all frat daddies and Suzies). I highly recommend the mellow mushroom to your Tuscaloosa night-life experience.

This place is quirky as hell, and tasty. I'm a Dallas native, but Chuy's is definitely a place to hit while you're in Austin. Nothing quite says Austin, TX like velvet paintings and Tex-Mex

I went with my best friend and her mom for her art history class and was astonished at the world-class collection of american artists I saw right here in Tuscaloosa. They have the largest collection of portraits of George Washington worldwide, including one that he sat for. The walking audio tour was recorded by the museum's owner, and was actually interesting on top of being informative.
