There were three acts. The first was a stand-up bassist and a drummer. The second was a keyboardist. The third was OURS. In our opinion, the bassist and drummer act should have been second and they were clearly superior to the keyboardist.
The OURS act was decent except for the self-indulgent drawn-out portions of songs that should have been edited out. Also there was a guest singer towards the end of the show to sing Bohemian Rhapsody. That left much to be desired.
Also, there was a spat with the sound guy, who does have a reputation for having low standards. So it was nice to see him be called out.
The bar itself was cash only and there were no draft beers available for some reason. The box office also is having "technical difficulties." The kitchen was closed, too.
OURS was offering three shirts for $20 ($30 longsleeve) which is funny because the show itself cost $15.
I've seen these guys before in Boston, I would recommend to any Frank Zappa fan in the area to go see them play!!
Friendly staff, and great customers. Cheap drinks, and lively entertainment. Karaoke on Thursdays is always a blast (even if you don't sing, which I don't). Trivia on Mondays can be tough, but rewarding. And Tuesday's sees some great acoustic music, typically up-and-coming stars from Berkeley School of Music. Great place for MIT students and locals alike.
