The film was amazing, let me say that outright. The cast was chosen well, there were very few lulls in the story, some of the scenes made you laugh want to high five whomever is closest to you (but you wouldn't because that's embarrassing) and I felt like a little kid who wanted to be a mobster when the film had finished.
What captivated my interests had to have been how well it was filmed. I am a sucker for brilliant cinematography, and this film was brimming with it. The lighting was spectacular, the guns and explosions sounded realistic, sound distances were recorded rather well and the film score was both prominent and fitting.
The film felt like it could have used more drama. I didn't feel worried for any of the characters throughout the film. Maybe I was too caught up in the selling points, but it felt like that was lacking. Be that as it may, go see this film in theaters if you get the chance.
This film kept me entertained. The action scenes were great, there were cool special affects, the classic banter between Megatron and Starscream was finally added, not to mention a whole lot of the classic Transformers made appearances.
Now that I've gotten everything I liked out in a nut shell, here is what failed. Every actor in this movie usually performs decently at the least, but the directing was poorly done, thusly making it painful or funny (for all of the wrong reasons) at times. The sense of humor for the most part was terrible or so awkward that I squirmed in my seat. The camera shots were still way too jumpy, especially in action sequences, I can imagine going crossed eyed after watching it in Imax. The film score was well done from an orchestral standpoint, yet they had to tack on a hand full of awful tracks by bands that make you want to punch your radio when you're driving to work. There were also too many plot holes, consistency errors and characters who just, "disappeared," by the end.
Also, when I say there were appearances by a lot of Transformers, I meant it. Many of the Transformers didn't even have lines! On top of that, when most of them spoke, you just wanted to hold your face in your hands and say, "really, that just happened?"
Yes, I have a biased opinion for both the positive and negative because I am a huge Transformers nerd. I pretty much got what I expected from this film: a movie I would only watch to see giant robots from my childhood tear each other apart. Not amazing, but I enjoyed it.
