Jun 23, 2009 - Larisha

My roommate and I recently visited this venue- I have driven by it dozens and dozens of times, always going elsewhere so I have never been able to stop to see what it was. Its in a nice new clean building, sadly an awkward location, but it is nearby to where I live so I can just walk from now on instead of drive. The interior was pleasant, I am a big fan of the color green so I loved it.

Their tea list should hopefully expand, but regardless it was exotic enough, but not too exotic I couldn't bring a non-tea drinker there and have them sample a tea and not worry if it is horrible or not. Gorgeous tea leaves in the pot, fully opened, very few of them weren't complete whole leaves.

Having seen the tea list of about 6 or 7 different varieties of Chinese teas, I looked down at the food menu to see... Mediterranean style foods... Looking back and forth between the Chinese teas and the food list... I was most puzzled. Not how I would do it, but it's not my place... We didn't stay and have anything to eat, but I wouldn't be opposed to it in the future. Very reasonable food prices and their sandwiches and salads looked delicious and complex.

The tea was served in handle free cups, which made drinking it a little difficult until the tea cooled more. Only real suggestion I could make, don't serve lemon unless its requested (might cut back on some costs), though having lemon at my disposal, I certainly tested it out, and decided I do enjoy it in my tea. The biscotti was a little odd, my roommate and I decided we tasted licorice in it, and wasn't too fantastic. But a unique touch.

Service was good, though we were the only ones, and the server didn't seem to know how to handle that. Maybe she was new, but she just seemed a little awkward and unsure of how often to visit us (a little too frequently).

Overall I would visit again. I work in a tea room myself so it is nice to get away from my regular atmosphere and into something completely different. I love tea and I would recommend this venue to others. Once the new city hall and library are built, I would recommend parking there and just walking the half a block to the Green Spot instead of attempting to park there.
