Brown Bag Talk: Picturing Arizona History

Come out for a helping of CAC's Brown Bag Talk.  Enjoy a speaker while you enjoy your lunch, and some desserts and drinks on us.  Today's speaker is Mr. James Turner, author, photographer and historian who will entertain and educate us about Arizona's history.  His book, "Arizona: A Celebration of the Grand Canyon State," is a brief broad-brush history from prehistoric times to the state's modern bio-tech industries.  He has collected more than 520 images from a dozen museums and archives throughout… Show more the state that cover the major themes of mining, ranching, and Apache conflicts. In addition, the book contains beautiful scenic photographs, images of historic sites and exhibits, and twenty paintings by renowned Western artist Maynard Dixon.  For this 45-minute PowerPoint presentation he will highlight the best 50 of the 520 images, and will include historic overviews as well as entertaining anecdotes about Arizona's past.
