Arizona State University’s School of Theatre and Film confronts controversial issues in this play-with-music about a 12-year-old who flees an oppressive Central American regime and meets the mythical Weeping Woman, or La Llorona, in Los Angeles. Written by Lisa Loomer, who is known for such topical (adult) plays as “Living Out,” about illegal-immigrant nannies, and “Distracted,” about attention deficit disorder.
