John Lovejoy Elliott, a Friend to All
In 1889, John Lovejoy Elliott met Ethical Culture founder Dr. Felix Adler, and in 1894 became Dr. Adler's assistant. Together they worked to build the Ethical Movement. It has been said that Elliott exemplified in his relationships with people what Adler was preaching as a prophet. In this address, Ethical Culture leader Anne Klaeysen tells the story of this extraordinary man whose last words were: "The only things worth living for and working for and dying for are love and friendship."
