Presentation on how over the past 50 years, terrestrial microorganisms (actinomycetes) have been exploited by the pharmaceutical industries as a rich source of natural antibiotics. However, due to a decline in the number of new drugs from these microbes, the need for novel actinomycetes from other environs was investigated.
