The Language of Jewelry
The new exhibit will explore the messages imbedded in these tokens of love and loss, function and fashion as told in gold, silver, hair, precious and semi-precious stones. Necklaces, rings, watches, brooches, bracelets and more will narrate the cultural and economic context in which jewelry was designed and displayed during the 1850's through 1930's. Carefully selected pieces will illustrate how society, cultural changes and industrial developments influenced trends in men’s & women’s jewelry.
