Martin Griffin Preserve hosts one of the most studied Great Egret nesting sites on the West Coast. Each year visitors can enjoy viewing around 100 active nests in a grove of redwoods at the preserve.
Historically, egrets begin arriving in late March or April. Visitors can witness various stages of the heron and egret nesting cycle including courting rituals, nest building, visible light blue eggs, chicks and first flights.
There are viewing decks, 8 miles of trails, picnic areas and more!
