The Last Five Years explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt, a struggling actress. Cathy is frustrated in her professional life, while Jaime achieves his dream to become a successful writer. As the demands of a book tour and literary politics take more of his time, Cathy is increasingly troubled that he is not completely hers. These difficulties are familiar, and make The Last Five Years ring true as an honest tale.
