The Cahokia Woodhenge - Dr. Michael Friedlander, Washington University
In 1985, a circle of tall wooden posts was erected to duplicate the Woodhenge constructed by native Americans centuries ago. Woodhenge is part of the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site in Illinois. Dr. Friedlander will explain how these posts were used as a pre-telescope era astronomical observatory. He will compare Woodhenge to Britain's Stonehenge and other prehistoric North American sites.
