Roxanne Phillips: In Print opens in the museum's community gallery on Friday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.Phillips applies multiple printing techniques to a single piece of art. Printed images range from geometric buildings to biomorphic clouds. Many of the images originate from random photographs taken by the artist. These photos provided a "template" for Phillips as she modifies colors, crops and assembles photos to create the printed image.The full-color pieces feature the reductive relief process wherein… Show more one matrix is used and layers are carved away each time a new color is added. Each print has anywhere from three to twelve layers. The black and white pieces consist of relief with pen or the Intaglio process.Presented by Saint Louis University Museum of Art (SLUMA)
