About The Tale of a Town - NL
The Arts and Culture Centres and The City of St. John's are proud to partner with A Tale of a Town bringing them across Newfoundland and Labrador to collect the stories of the province’s rich oral history and present them in The Rocket Room on Water St.
With their “Storymobile” (a travel trailer converted into a mobile recording studio) in tow, they have recorded oral histories in person through scheduled and impromptu interviews with independent business owners, local heroes, community stakeholders, and neighborhood residents.
Charles Ketchabaw and Lisa Marie started in Labrador City and St. John’s, and have visited Arts and Culture Centres in Grand Falls-Windsor (Oct 7-8), Stephenville (Oct 10-11), Corner Brook (Oct 14-15), and Gander (Oct 17-18).
About The Tale of a Town - Canada
The Tale of a Town – Canada is a national oral history and theatre initiative aiming to capture the collective community memory of our country’s main streets, one story at a time. The Tale of a Town is touring across Canada, gathering downtown stories in small towns and big cities alike, and creating performance installations in the capital city of each province and territory. This national venture will culminate in a multi-platform celebration of the country’s main street culture, in commemoration of Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.
