Special Note: As of March 1, 2008 if your Acls card is expired, you may attend an update (renewal) course, but you may not remediate. You must pass all testing stations on your first attempt. If you do not pass all testing stations on your first attempt, you will need to complete the Acls Provider Course (2 Day). Bring Your Acls Card And Your Current BLS Card With You. You will be asked to present both during registration.
Description and… Show more Target Audience: This American Heart Association (Aha) course is designed to challenge students. An interactive format is used requiring a basic current understanding of Acls algorithms and practice skills. Course emphasis is at an advanced level, so minimal time is devoted to didactic material. Students who are not current will have difficulty with this course.
Any student who has completed an Acls Provider Course can attend the Acls-Ep Course. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and Ems personnel are encouraged to attend.
Objectives
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
Recognize and initiate early management of peri-arrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome.
Manage cardiac arrest until return of spontaneous circulation, termination of resuscitation or transfer of care.
Describe and perform the Abcd Surveys in Acls and the expansion for Acls-Ep into the five quadrads approach.
Describe within scenarios, pre-arrest and arrest management of advanced cardiovascular and pulmonary causes.
Describe within scenarios, pre-arrest and arrest management of advanced electrolyte abnormalities.
Describe within scenarios, pre-arrest and arrest management of advanced environmental causes.
Describe within scenarios, pre-arrest and arrest management of advanced toxicologic emergencies.

Testing: Written exam (50 questions) which must be passed with an 84%. One-on-one skills testing required.
Course Length: 8 hours
Certification Length: 2 years
Includes: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Manual and certification card.
Location: CoxHealth Education Center, CoxHealth North, K400, 4th Floor, Classroom #1.
Directions: Enter Cox North from the Robberson Ave. Northwest Entrance. Upon entering the building turn right and take the elevator to the 4th floor. You will arrive in the Education Center lobby.
