Special Holiday Concert
World Music
The Klezmatics, Grammy-winning stars of the world music genre, are known for their revitalization of klezmer for the 21st century. Blending the Eastern European Jewish roots of their music with African, Arab, Latin and Balkan rhythms, along with jazz and punk, The Klezmatics have formed a unique and eclectic sound that has won them fans the world over and a permanent niche in the world music scene.
Twenty years and nine albums later, their sound is still fresh and their lyrics thought-provoking, spiritual and politically charged. The band shuns labels and confines, constantly exploring and incorporating various musical themes and genres. Over the years, they have worked with numerous artists and thinkers, such as Itzhak Perlman, Ben Folds Five and Joshua Nelson. The Klezmatics have toured the world extensively and topped the Billboard World Music charts numerous times, and they will be performing a special holiday concert at SOPAC.
