SAVED BY DEPORTATION retraces the path Asher and Shyfra Scharf traveled in 1940 from Poland to forced labor settlements of the Soviet interior when Stalin ordered the deportation of 200,000 Polish Jews, a year before the Nazis started deporting Jews to death camps.
