Smyrna Theater is great

I really liked this theater and so did my husband. When we went, there was not alot of kids(like high school age or college years)so there was no disruptions during the movie. The seating was nice and we liked the stadium seating. I would only say this about the theater, they should clean the theater better in between the movies.

Smyrna has a theater...

I love this theater! We have been going since it opened. One day all tickets were sold out (around Christmas) and so we had to go to a later showing. That was the worst thing that has happened to us there. The theater is made well, clean and comfy. The staff are all very helpful. They have BUTTER for your popcorn and you get as much as you want! We are very regular customers and we love it - today we are going to see The Soloist - and eat popcorn!!

Very Disappointing

Christmas Day was my second trip to this theater. The first time, the popcorn tasted kind of 'old'. But...I doctored it up myself and didn't think any more of it. Christmas Day is one of the busiest days of the year for movie goers. The lines at the counters were long as they didn't have enough staff. We decided to see Marley & Me at the second showing. While sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to start there were some other movie goers sitting behind us discussing how Malco had a technical problem with the first showing and told people their options were to wait for the second show, get a voucher to come back or see another movie. Malco had a technical problem with the second showing also...we opted for the voucher and left. They assured everyone that the 3:40 showing would be up and running. We didn't want to wait around that long only to find that the problem might not be fixed. And, by the way, the popcorn is 'old'. They don't have any popcorn machines on the premises...the popcorn bins were reloaded with huge plastic bags of popcorn from their backroom somewhere. I'll use the vouchers to see the movie I missed out on...but M'boro here we come.

Slightly Disappointing

We have waited for years for a theater in Smyrna and I watched in anticipation as this one went up. It
looked impressive as it was being built. We went to our first film
there tonight. The good news... a very clean, attractive building and a nice layout. Very comfortable seats and state of the art sound.
The bad news... THE THEATERS ARE SO SMALL! Each theater had a sign out front listing it's capacity. The one we were in held 72 PEOPLE!!!! Others were listed at 127, 149 and the biggest held 172. WHAT THE HECK!!!?? I couldn't believe the lack of seating available. Considering the size of the property
on which it sits and the overall look of the place they did NOT make the best use of the area. What were they thinking when they designed this place? Somebody dropped the ball on this one. I think I will continue to patronize the Providence Place Theater at the mall in Mt. Juliet. Not that far away and a much nicer facility.

Smyrna's Roxy

After much anticipation, my husband and I were finally able to see a movie at The Roxy. First of all, it's exciting just having a theater here. The building is new, clean and a great atmosphere for the entire family. The facilities were clean and stocked with paper. The employees were nothing but friendly to us. The prices were the usual "movie theater" prices that one expects. I was happy to see that they have an expanded menu so that you can actually eat a snack if you didn't have time to eat dinner before the show. We had the chicken tenders and it was a large portion. Very happy with our experience. The seating is fabulous. Love the stadium seating with the rocking chairs and comfortable arm rests. We will definately go back. Don't know what the laborn guy was talking about. Maybe he should return to the Chinese theater in LA. I don't think they'd give his little girl glasses either.

is that it?

ya write a review and make fun of the people who work there? This is a nice theater, there is no way the person in front of you will block your view. I don't think even marge simpson's hair would do that. The floors ain't sticky yet, so get it while you can!!!!! Great experience! We got there before the doors opened and the guy at the desk was very kind to be able to read my lips and tell me what time the doors opened, i didn't feel like I was being ignored at all!!! :) great experience

A Delight

WOW, after reading the other review made on this theater, even I was scared. In truth, the new Malco Roxy in Smyrna was a delight! The prices were expected for the movie-going experience, and the efforts made to make a good first impression were a success. The main lobby was open and inviting with a beautiful water-fountain setting the tone; there was a slow and casual pace (remarkable for an evening experience); the employees were all very polite and had all the manners and kind gestures "one" could expect; the lavatories were clean and well-kept; the theater rooms, themselves, were open, well-lit, and the seating was a treat (the chairs were a definite bonus in my book). Also, the location and parking (for such a new theater) were perfect and as long as you keep the traffic on Sam Ridley in-mind, everything goes on smoothly. The Malco Roxy in Smyrna is a wonderful addition to our little , and growing, town.

Malco Theater

Ticket Taker was not very pleasant to look at. Couldnt tell if it was a boy or girl, untill I seen his name on the shirt. The BLACK thing these kids have going is not very eye friendly with a parent who has young kids. Even the word "GOTHIC" scares the heck out of me.Asked everyone in front of me about makeing a donation to St. Judes, but did not ask me. Charged me and my 2 year old $9.00 and $8.50 for BOLT!Said he had to charge extra for 3-D Glasses Went to Restroom, where there was some dry and wet blood dripped all in the floor. Around the toliet. It had been there for awhile.Went in Movie theater where the guy was not there to give out the glasses, everyone already seated did not have glasses. We all had to get up and go back outside with young kids just to get the glasses. Why he didnt just pass them out inside? Wasnt but a few people there. After the Show, he was Johnny on the spot to ask for the Glasses back. Left my little Girl Crying, because she thought they were hers. I have never been asked to turn in 3-D Glasses, especially after I PAID EXTRA to use them. TERRIBLE FIRST EXPERIENCE!!!!!!
