A Sweet Afternoon at the Smith-Appleby House
Sample hearthside-made jonnycakes & a taste of homemade maple syrup as you tour our historic farm house and learn about life in the 18th century.
The house was built circa 1696 as a one-room stone-ender by a grandson of John Smith “The Miller,” one of Roger Williams’ original settlers of Providence.
Tours are led by interpreters in Colonial-period dress. Learn about the history & architecture of the home and living in the 1700′s, and examine period furnishings, clothing and household items.
