Understand The Most Dangerous Threat to America's Freedoms — As a Maryland businessman and elected official, Commissioner Richard Rothschild has observed the negative effects of intrusive regulations on property owners. Performing his own research, Richard has identified the driving forces behind local legislative actions, and has determined that seemingly “well-intentionedâ€* regulations actually serve to force behavioral and lifestyle changes on citizens against their will.
For our December… Show more 2012 First Friday Lecture, Commissioner Rothschild traces the international “Sustainabilityâ€* agenda through State agencies, regulations, and tax schemes. In his intriguing presentation, " Connecting the Dots: Understanding How Sustainability and Agenda 21 Threaten America's Freedoms," he explains how these schemes infect local and county master plans, ordinances, and zoning regulations to arrest freedom. Richard provides “smoking gunâ€* evidence that civil governments on all levels are involved in a systematic destruction of property rights and freedom under the guise of “protectingâ€* the environment, the economy, and "social equity."
Don't be fooled. Sustainability is marketed with pretty “window dressing.â€* However, Richard provides compelling evidence that this is a dangerous anti-American movement that seeks to abort Constitutional freedoms and eliminate property rights of current and future generations.
In late 2010, Richard Rothschild became concerned because of government overreach and jumped into the race for Carroll County (Maryland) Commissioner. Running  on a two-pronged platform of “ Less Government â€* and “ Protection of Private Property Rights, â€* h e won a five-way primary race by a 50% margin over his closest Republican competitor, and defeated his Democratic opponent by a two-to-one margin, to become Carroll County’s District 4 Commissioner. Delivering on his promises, t he County’s Office of Sustainability has been eliminated, and Carroll has become the first County in the United States to officially terminate its relationship with the Iclei. An article in The Washington Examiner  credited the Commissioner " for leading the way out of the Iclei for his colleagues, and maybe for the Nation." Â
Richard offers advice for other conservative leaders:  “ Speak up and Speak out; otherwise, you are irrelevant .â€*
