The Nordic Heritage Museum is an internationally recognized museum and cultural center where people of all backgrounds are welcomed to be inspired by the values, traditions, art, and spirit of the Nordic peoples. The Museum highlights the contributions of Nordic immigrants and their descendants in the development of the Pacific Northwest, to serve as a cross-cultural bridge among people from the Nordic countries and the United States.
The purposes of the Foundation is to collect, preserve and protect material that reflects the life and culture of immigrants from the five Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden to preserve the spirit and vision of Nordic pioneers.
Display these materials, special collections and traveling exhibits under curatorial supervision. Seek and sponsor quality fine arts and performing arts programs that reflect both Nordic themes and subjects related to the Pacific Northwest. Display the unique history and contributions of the people from the Nordic Countries, thereby helping visitors understand both their common bond and their uniqueness and separate identity. Serve as a resource for school groups and others by providing educational programs and a professional library.
