Victory Square

We just stopped by Victory Square Theatre and dropped someone off to meet friends for a movie. We pulled up in front of the theatre and he got out, as he was getting out we saw the friends coming up from the parking lot so we rolled down the windows to speak to them. One of the young men stopped at the driver's window to speak to my husband and the others walked in front of the van to the sidewalk and I was speaking to one of them when the Savannah Chatham Metro Police officer working at the theatre came up to the van and YELLED into the window at my husband, "you can't park here, if you're gonna park you gotta pull out there and park or move on." She didn't come up and just speak it into window, she didn't politely say "sir you can't stop here, you have to keep moving," she flat out YELLED it into the window and in my ear. After she said that, my husband said "okay, we're going" whereupon the young man that was speaking to him walked in front of the van to the sidewalk to join his friends. Before he had cleared the front of the van she YELLED from behind us "you gotta move!" I guess if my husband had hit the gas at that moment we could have mowed this young man down under our van...but being the kind man he is, he allowed him to get all the way across from in front of us. And yes I did look behind us and there was no one behind us waiting to get by.

I fully support the police department, but I see no reason why this officer had to be so rude. Not only did I think she was being rude but so did the others that were present. This officer was very offensive and rude and it was uncalled for. I want to notify the theatre to tell them that their security personnel will cause them to lose business because I would drive further in town to go to a movie, rather than patronize that theatre. The officer was not there as a part of her regular duties because police officers are hired for private duty security and this is what she was doing. However, the theatre hires them and pays them, and I would hope they would not want them being so rude to patrons.
