SAF Lecture: A School in the Sun: Florida Climate and the Sarasota School of Architecture

Thursday, Jan 16 5:00p to 8:00p

The Sarasota School of Architecture (SSA) was a modern architecture movement that thrived in Florida in the 1950s and 60s. Before the term “green” became fashionable, the SSA incorporated eco-friendly features such as the breezeway, the internal courtyard, walls of jalousie windows and large overhangs, to name a few. Tonight's lecture by Christopher Wilson will provide insight into SSA's design strategies based on the unique Florida climate and their relevance in today's built environment.
