Silicon Beach Fest is back and we’re better and bigger than ever. Our dedication and commitment to the developer community makes this by far and away the most anticipated hackathons in southern california. This year we’re proud to announce our partnership with At&t which will make this hackathon one to remember. Come eat and compete for awesome prizes and build the products of tomorrow .
There’s only one rule, everything coded and evaluated in… Show more the competition must be either a publicly available api or coded on site.
Event Schedule. The following is a list of the weekends agenda:
6PM - Kickoff event with dinner, networking, and developer dating which leads into idea pitches and team formation.
7PM - Lightning talks.
8PM - Idea pitches and team formation. Pitch your ideas and form teams or just start coding with your preformed teams.
12AM - Code the whole night through
10AM - The fun continues with an all day hackathon. Work with the teams that you formed the night before to produce the app. Senseis will be available throughout the entire event to help you code up your solution.
1PM - Lunch
7PM - Dinner
12AM - Code the whole night through
10AM - The fun continues with the final day of the hackathon. Continue to work with your team to finish coding and polishing your app. Senseis will be available throughout the final hours to help you code up your solution. App submissions will be accepted throughout the day with a deadline of 6PM .

6PM - Pencils down. Please sign up your teams to present via this link: http://bit.ly/hackprezreg Pitches start promptly at 4PM and are limited to three (3) minutes per team. No powerpoints unless you are only presenting an idea.

1st Place - $9,000+ in cash and prizes. This includes $1,000 in cash for the team to split (cash provided by Scopely)! One Nokia Lumina (Provided by Nokia) For the entire team to share, a "Copy for Companies", 500G, 1 year ($999 value https://www.copy.com/price/) Each team member will receive the Copy Pro 250g for 1 year(value $99 each https://www.copy.com/price/) Each member of the team will receive free tickets to the Silicon Beach Fest (Each ticket valued at $495). All team members that present a final app on Sunday will recieve a discount coupon for 50% of a ticket to the Silicon Beach Fest.
All Senseis that work with team throughout the entire hackathon will receive a free ticket to Silicon Beach Fest.

Alex Donn, Senior Marketing Manager at At&t, is based out of sunny Seattle! His passion is educating developers young and old about mobile application development best practices through events like hackathons that fuse the collective interests of multiple technology and business leaders. He loves bacon and is allergic to all types of gluten.
Myles Sutherland manages Esri’s Emerging Business team working with startups and entrepreneurs around geo-location, mapping, and location analytics. He has a background in engineering, product management, and business development. He’s also a Kiwi, geographer, surfer, and outdoors geek.
Shai Leib is the founder and CEO of Ask Ziggy. Shai has over 20 years of software development experience, and ran his own It Consulting company. Shai spends his time focusing on developing the Ask Ziggy Nlu Api to enable the developer community to enhance their applications using Natural Language Understanding, while focusing on creating great apps, and avoid dealing with the details of machine learning and Ai. Shai Has a B.S. degree in Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University.
Eytan Elbaz is currently the Co-founder of Scopely and of Deep Dive Media. He previously served as Google’s Head of Domain Channel from April 2003 through September 2007. Prior to Google, Eytan was Vice President and founding member of Applied Semantics (formerly Oingo), which was later acquired by Google.
Sameer Maggon is a product & technology executive with expertise in cloud infrastructure, mobile & search. He helps startups, agencies & enterprises with product & technology strategy, implementation and delivery. Sameer is currently the co-founder at Productsy that offers cloud based infrastructure for mobile developers to quickly build mobile apps and provides scale as they grow."
Thor Clark is a business and growth-driven Cto with a background as a professional developer and systems architect. As Cto at SignNow, recently acquired by Barracuda Networks, Thor manages a team of experienced technologists building out the world's best online signature platform. At Yahoo! he worked with sales and technology teams to increase revenue generated by key search products. As Cto at INVESTools (a Nasdaq listed company acquired by TD Ameritrade) he managed product and technology and supported a 10x increase in market value. At Tabula Interactive, an innovative financial content startup, he was employee #6 and led the technology growth of the platform, supporting a successful $50M exit and a significant return on investment. Mr. Clark earned his Bachelors degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Jameel Al-Aziz is a Platform Engineer at Scopely. He went to UCLA to become a doctor and left with a degree in Cs&e. Al-Aziz is a DevOps engineer at heart, but somehow ends up working on platforms!
Josue Bustos is a designer, developer for Zukini Mobile. Specializing in enterprise and cross platform mobile application development targeting the Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone vendor platforms.
He is the Co - Manager of the Los Angeles PhoneGap user group . Josue also Co - Founded Mobile Camp Los Angeles in 2012; a premier un-conference and training event for working professionals of all levels to discover, share, and innovate for the mobile wireless application industry.
Cheston Contaoi is a cross-platform mobile developer and President of Driveframe LLC servicing mobile app development, Api implementation, and app store submission and marketing. Cheston has won numerous Hackathons sponsored by At&t, Salesforce, Microsoft & BlackBerry.
Francis Nickels is currently the Director of Operations at Riot Games, and has help grow the team, live service, and global infrastructure for League of Legends over the past three years. Currently the most played online game in the world with over 32 million monthly active players and in excess of 5 million concurrent players. Prior to Riot he has worked at firms including Blizzard Entertainment, Roll Global, UCLA and Experian Consumer Direct. Graduate of UCLA's School of Engineering with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering.
Lance Bradely is a 12 year startup veteran, whom over the years has worked in creative and engineering roles. He founded and sold a Natural Language Search Engine after graduating from college. Following that he was an early employee at Zynga where he worked in Risk Management, then built out the highest trafficked Ruby on Rails installation in the world. After Zynga, Lance worked for Geni.com in Los Angeles building graph databases in Clojure, a community in which he as many open source contributions. He is now a Senior Engineer on the Platform team at Scopely, where he works on scalable social platforms and data engineering.
Peter Couture is a Cto & Solutions Architect with over 10 years experience innovating in the streaming media world. His core talent includes the conception and implementation of live streaming infrastructure for 100,000+ audiences on web and mobile. His systems have been used by Imgen Heap, MTV, Coachella and the Espn. He's advised and implemented infrastructure for AEG's Staples Center and Adobe's Flash Media Server 4.5. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology for a BS in Information Technology.
Mark Mironyuk was born in Kiev Ukraine, started programming when he was 14. Mark attended UC Davis for Computer Science before jumping aboard the Ask Ziggy train when it was only five members strong. He is currently a front-end developer and Lead of user experience.
Carlos Cervantes is a CTO/Founder at Gumball a local social marketing startup that recently came out of the Boost incubator in Silicon Valley. He worked at DRX(acquired by Connecture), a Los Angeles healthcare technology company, as a Software Architect before quitting to pursue his own agenda. Carlos has 7 years experience in web, mobile, and startups with a variety of different platforms.
Ilya Pozin is an entrepreneur, writer and investor. He is the founder of Ciplex, a digital marketing agency, and a columnist for Inc., Forbes and LinkedIn.
Nathan Chandra, provides marketing and business development for the At&t Developer Program, and is the Co-Founder of WeLink. Nathan is entrepreneurial in spirit and thrives off ideas. Some of his accomplishment include selling 2M+ physical CD albums (this was prior to the popularity of the MP3); successfully starting a multimillion dollar private law practice (the practice is still thriving); and starting 2 technology companies (one failed, the second is stable and growing)!
Reed Shaffner - Prior to joining Scopely, Reed was general manager at Zynga where he oversaw the company’s mobile platform and the Zynga With Friends network. Reed also is associate partner at Ironfire Capital, which invests in early stage mobile, big data and cloud computing start-ups in China and the U.S.
David is the Managing Partner of TenOneTen Ventures. He has nearly two decades of experience as a technology entrepreneur. After graduating from MIT’s Media Lab in 1995, David co-founded Firefly, an early pioneer in personalization and privacy technology. Firefly was acquired by Microsoft in 1998. After Firefly, David co-founded PeoplePC, which went public in 2001 and was acquired by Earthlink in 2002. Since leaving his last company, Spot Runner, David has dedicated his time to helping entrepreneurs. He is an active mentor in several Los Angeles accelerators, including Amplify, LaunchPad La, and MuckerLab. David lives in La with his wife, three daughters, and a ludicrous number of pets. "
