An experienced guitarist, bandleader, producer and songwriter – he has an emotionally charged playing style that has caught the ears of many who admire his artistry. He has recorded with Grammy Award winning producers Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin) and Gary Nicholson (Waylon Jennings, Delbert McClinton). He has also performed with such soulful artists as Billy Preston, Jonny Lang, and Melissa Etheridge. Stachela recorded and toured with “Leroy Powell and the Messengers” in 2008. When Powell relocated to Nashville in 2009, Johnny stayed in Los Angeles and formed his own band. The JSB is rooted in the timeless era of Blues/Rock music and it showcases his depth of songwriting and incendiary guitar playing. The core band includes Jason Benfield on bass, Vincent Fossett Jr. on drums, and features Jessie Payo on vocals. The Johnny Stachela Band debuted two singles, “Love Is A Killer” and “Love Salesman” in Spring 2011. Shortly after, Civil Defense Music produced and released their first single “Shine A Light.” “Shine A Light” is an uplifting anthem that inspires love in time of darkness. You can feel the storm clouds brewing between Johnny’s electric slide guitar and the heartfelt vocals until the song climaxes in a moment of humility. It captures lightning in a bottle. The JSB reinvents the songs on stage with adventurous interpretations of their primal Blues sounds. Utterly elevated, transformed, and liberated from their studio recordings, the band is tight, intuitive, confident and unafraid to make real organic music.
