Cottage Food Celebration

Have you thought about making and selling your own food candy, jam or bread from home? Are you a lover of ultra-local foods? Join Slow Food Santa Cruz to celebrate California's recently enacted Homemade Food Act at the Louden Nelson Community Center on February 24th, from 1-4pm. Participants will learn more about the Homemade Food Act - what's allowed under the law, the strengths and weaknesses of the legislation, taste local homemade foods and ask questions of the experts.
We will be joined by a… Show more panel of speakers, including Christina Oatfield from Sustainable Economics Law Center who works to research and develop resources for start-up and small-scale food businesses as well as was one of the stewards of the Homemade Food Act; Kathryn Lukas, owner and operator of Farmhouse Culture, a local kraut business created and fostered locally in Santa Cruz; and Tabitha Stroup, a local food and wine educator with a local jam business, Friend in Cheeses.
