Jazz saxophonist Virginia Mayhew, from New York, and leader of the Duke Ellington Legacy Band, joins Dr. Gregg Gelb and the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra for a special two-day series of concerts and classes. Concerts are Feb. 15 and 16 and classes are on Feb. 16. Virginia Mayhew will offer a free master class (younger players welcome) from 3:30-4:30pm. Lydia Salett’s free pre-concert lecture on “Women in Jazz and Mary Lou Williams” will be from 5:30 - 6:30pm.
