Detroit Cobras
Detroit Cobras
The Detroit Cobras are an American garage rock cover band from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1994. Their material is non-original and consists of material chosen from their personal record collections that they rearrange and perform.
Kylesa
Kylesa
Kylesa is, fundamentally, a metal group, but the Savannah, GA-based outfit is otherwise difficult to categorize: elements of hardcore punk, psychedelic stoner rock, technical speed metal, and good old-fashioned Black Sabbath sludge appear in their music....
The Hit Men
The Hit Men
The 60s, 70s and 80s were a golden era for songwriting, and during this period, artists like Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Tommy James and the Shondells, and many other big name chart-busting groups created beloved hits that have been heard for generations and are woven into America’s consciousness....

Harry & The Hit Men
Harry & The Hit Men
Harry & the Hit Men serve up classic Motown and Soul with jovial professionalism. But don't let the "suits" fool you, the band comes from an improvised rock tradition, and has years of experimentation behind their tight arrangements....

Great venue for live music

Slims is my favorite venue in San Francisco to see a band live. It's not too big. It's not too small. The sound system is good. The price is never too high to get in. And I've seen some pretty amazing bands here over the years, before they got so big they had to play HUGE venues to accommodate everyone who wanted to see them. If I could choose one setting to see a band I loved, it would be to see them headlining at Slims.

And PS: The Slims "Rock and Roll is not a crime" shirt is my favorite t-shirt I own! I'm just saying...

Great sound, unfriendly staff

Slim's has a great location and space -- and the sound system is very good -- but the staff has all the warmth of professional prison guards. The fun begins with being heavily frisked at the door, and continues as you are forced to buy drinks if you want to sit down. Immediately after the music stops, the staff shows their first real enthusiasm as they herd you out the door as quickly as possible. Visit this place only if you love the band.
