SF State Opera Workshop presents Benjamin Britten

On the 100th birthday of composer, conductor and pianist Edward Benjamin Britten, SF State students perform scenes from his operas “Albert Herring” (1946–47), “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (1959–60) and “The Turn of the Screw” (1954). Directed by Christine Brandes.

Britten and his contemporary Michael Tippett are among several pairs of composers who dominated English art music in the 20th century. Britten died in 1976.
